The Traditional Archery and Bows of Mongolia, Turkey and the Magyar People

The bows were made in Hungary. After years of painstaking research into the historic style of each culture. The material was obtained by references archeological digs in Hungary country and elsewhere, historic texts, paintings, illuminations, and Magyar verbal histories before he reproduces a style. The search for historical documentation is ongoing. New designs and improvements on current styles are made with an eye toward historical accuracy tempered with modern technologies.

The construction of the handle and ears are ashwood. Today the bellies are fiberglass. The wood and fiberglass pieces interlock and their joints wrapped together with nylon thread. Then the bellies are wrapped in leather and the joints again wrapped and glued using nylon or cotton cord. The ancients wrapped the bellies of their bows to protect the glue that held together the tendon, wood, and horn sandwich which gave their bow such great strength. It is used now to protect the fiberglass from the UV rays of the sun and reproduce the ancient look. All fiberglass is protected and hidden under wood or leather. The bows are made without arrow rests, so may be used either right- or left- handed. The pull is very smooth. Guinness Book of Records
As a comment on the bows, Celestino Tolelti holds the Guinness Book of World Records record for the most arrows shot in a 24 hour period. In 1996 he fired 13,100 arrows. He did this with a Magyar Sport right off the rack, no modifications, no endorsement. This year he is planning to go for his own record. He again will be using a Kassai Magyar. I would guess this man knows archery and has a number of bows from which he could choose.
